1 General information
1.1 Scope of application
The present Test Specification is an integral part of the Technical Specification, QS and/or drawing and shall be used as reference under the following circumstances:
Test releases in the case of new developments
Test releases for components from secondary suppliers
Design changes in comparison with the development release version
Depending on the respective concept, additional tests over and beyond these tests may be necessary on account of new findings in the development phase which must be coordinated with the respective BMW test department.  Tests which are carried out within the framework of an initial sampling inspection are to be coordinated with the respective BMW quality control centers.
1.2 General test conditions
1.2.1 Number of test components
The test is to be conducted with at least one new part in all colors.  In the case of versions in only one color at least three new parts are tested unless otherwise agreed
1.2.2 Auxilary tools
The tests are conducted on partial body shells, special checking fixtures with original installation components and/or are performed in the vehicle.  In so doing, the following conditions are to be met: Checking fixture setup:
The setup of the test specimen is according to the actual installation condition by using the original mounting points with the original attachment hardware and at the specified torques.
Partial body shell setup:
A partial body shell is to simulate the actual stiffness and elastic forces of the vehicle in the area of the test specimen so as to achieve genuine simulation.
A partial vehicle body shell consists of off-tool and off-series components.
Test vehicles
The variant and OE-situation designed for the vehicle must be taken into account in the series of tests to be conducted.

TP 303.5: 2010-01 1.2.3 Fitment position
The tests are to be conducted in fitment position.  This position is shown in the layout drawing.
1.2.4 Measuring instruments
The measuring instruments used must have a measuring accuracy in the entire measuring range of at least 10 % of the required component tolerance.
1.2.5 Environmental conditions
Unless otherwise defined, all tests are carried out at room climate.  Definition of the room climate in conformity with DIN 50014 standard atmospheres: standard atmosphere DIN 50 014 – 23/50-1.
Room temperature:  23°  ± 1° C
Relative humidity: 50%  ± 3% rh.
1.3 Standards and regulations referred to in the document
DIN standards:
DIN 50014 Climates and their technical application; standard atmospheres
Always the latest edition and the complete text of the standards and regulations referred to shall appl
y.

Note: Verification of compliance with legal or insurance regulations is the responsibility of the relative BMW specialist departments and is definitely not part of this test specification.
2 Test chamber
2.1 General information
It must be assured that all test components in the climatic chamber are exposed tot he same test conditions. Care must be taken to see to it that all test components in the climatic chamber are exposed to the same test conditions.
There shall be no mutual interference among the test components (e.g. deformation resulting from stacking the test specimens).
The climatic chamber used must be efficient enough in order to carry out the specified cycles within the appropriate periods (especially as far as temperature change rates are concerned).
2.2 Documentation
During each test the proper sequence of test cycles with respect to temperature and humidity as a function of time is to be recorded by means of a suitable plotter.
Evidence of a regular calibration must be submitted without prior request.
