Strategic alliance with Renault
The group maintains strategic relationship with Renault. By the end of FY2009, Renault held a 44.3%stake in Nissan, while Nissan owns 15% of Renault shares.The alliance is engaged in the automobile manufacturing and sales; as well as for automotive financing. In FY2009, the combined sales of Nissan and Renault totaled 6,090,304 vehicles (3,708,074 for Nissan and 2,382,230 for Renault).That gave the alliance a combined market share of 9.4%, placing it fourth among the major automobile groups across the world.The alliance jointly operates Renault Nissan, in which both Nissan and Renault have a 50% interest. It also operates RNPO (Renault-Nissan Purchasing Organization) and RNIS (Renault-Nissan Information Services). Both the companies share platforms, technologies,and best practices.
