林肯——葛底斯堡演讲
上海通用汽车金融在八十七年前，我们的国父们在这块土地上创建一个新的国家，乃基于对自由
的坚信，并致力于所有男人皆生而平等的信念。〔注：father在此应避免有血缘的联想。在当时的人，尤其是在政治上，没有男女平等的观念，men指的是男人，而且没有说出来的还是白种男人而已。为求忠实，不应将其视为人类的通称。）
Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.
斯者，可永垂不朽。吾等现相逢于此战中一处浩大战场。而吾等将奉献此战场
之部分，作为这付彼者生命让那国度勉能生存的人们最后安息之处。此乃
全然妥切且适当而为吾人应行之举。
Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and
布加迪威速so dedicated, can long endure. We are met on a great battle field of that war. We have come to dedicate a portion of that field, as a final resting place for those who here gave their lives that this nation might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this.

The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here, have consecrated it, far above our poor power to add or detract. The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here. It is for us the living, rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinish
ed work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced. It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us — that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion — that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain — that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom — and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.
