二、精选词汇讲解
1. supply
(1) supply vt. 供给，供应，提供
supply sth. to/for sb. 把某物供给给某人; supply sb. with sth. 向……供应/提供
We supply power to the three nearby towns. 我们给附近的三个城镇提供电力。
The government supplies free books to schools. 政府免费给学校提供书籍。
Our farm supplies the market with fruits and vegetables. 我们的农场为市场提供水果和蔬菜。
The town is supplied with water from a reservoir in the hills. 这个小镇的水是由山上的一个水库提供的。
(2) supply n. [u.] 供应 (抽象意义)；

2. envy
(1) envy vt. 嫉妒，羡慕 envy sb. sth. 羡慕某人拥有某物

James envied his friend’s success. 詹姆士嫉妒他朋友的成功。

(2) envy n. 嫉妒，羡慕 ([u.])；令人羡慕的人或东西（可与the 连用；后可与at/of/towards连用）

3. reach

He reached out his hand for the book I offered him. 他伸出手来拿我给他的那本书。
(3) reach /vt. 伸手碰到；够得着
Can you reach those books on the shelf? 你能够得着书架上的书吗？
I cannot reach the apples on the top branch. 我够不着最上边树枝上的苹果。
(4) reach vt. 到达

4. surround

(2) surrounding adj. 周围的；附近的
The village and its surrounding scenery are very pretty. 这村庄和它周围的风景很漂亮。
He lives somewhere in the surrounding area. 他住在周围地区的某个地方。
(3) surroundings n. 环境
He seemed to be out of tone with his surroundings. 他似乎与周围的环境格格不入。

5. adventure
