SCOPE
Applicable to all surface materials in the interior of the vehicle with a surface area exceeding 100 cm 2 (all colours) and components that may affect the cabin odour. Trim, adhesives, sealants, final
production materials and the specific components are required to meet this standard.
OBJECT
The purpose of this standard is to ensure that our vehicle interiors meet the continuing demand for
reduced Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) and hazardous material emissions.
REVIEW
This document is to be reviewed every three years from the date of the last review or update.

Interior Materials and Components Page: 2 of 10 REQUIREMENTS
All materials and components must comply with Jaguar Land Rover's restricted substance management requirements, STJLR.99.9999.
1 Requirements for materials
∙Applicable to all surface materials, (e.g. leathers, PVCs, painted plastics), NVH materials, adhesives, sealants, carpets, seat foams, surface-mounted components and laminar
materials (e.g. veneers, parcel trays, load floor, headlining) used in the vehicle cabin;
∙All colours are required to be tested;
∙Hard trim samples shall be provided in plaque form (in certain cases, where the component meets the dimensional requirements of the test apparatus, components may be analysed);
∙Materials shall be analysed before <VP> gateway;
∙Components shall be tested before <FEC> gateway;
∙Submitter is responsible to provide samples 4 weeks before the relevant deadlines;
∙Submitter is responsible to provide detailed information (e.g. material type, grade, production date, c
olour, etc.) about the sample.
Trim materials
∙Trim materials samples must be tested for odour (TPJLR.52.458), fogging (SAE J1756), total VOCs emissions (VDA 277) and specific compounds emissions
(TPJLR.52.104 - µ-chamber method or TPJLR.52.095 – 10 litre bag method);
∙Table 1 shows the limits for odour, fogging and total VOCs.
Table 1: Odour, fogging and total VOCs limits for trim materials
(1)…16 hours at 100°C ± 2°C; with 21°C ± 2°C cooling plates; 4 hours post-test conditioning; If the
fogging value exceeds 2.5 mg, a photometric measurement must be done. The photometric
value (3 hours at 100°C ± 2°C, 21 °C ± 2°C cooling plates; 1 hour and 16 hours post-test
conditioning) must not be lower than 70 after 16 hours.

∙If the sample geometry is not suitable for specific compounds emissions determination according to TPJLR.52.104, the sample must be analysed according to TPJLR.52.095;
∙Identification and quantification of target VOCs must be done according to ISO 16000-6;
∙Materials are divided into groups (A-C) according to Table 2;
∙Materials not specified in Table 2 must be evaluated as Group A.

∙Table 3 shows the compound emission limits for individual groups tested according to TPJLR.52.104.

1.2 Adhesives and sealants
∙Adhesives and sealants samples must be tested for total VOCs emissions (VDA 277) and specific compounds emissions (TPJLR.52.095 – 10 litre bag method);
∙Table 5 shows the limits for total VOCs emissions.

∙Identification and quantification of target VOCs must be done according to ISO 16000-6;
∙Specific compound emission limits are stated in Table 6.
